This is a Moringa Oleifera tree. Our musician friend Ricky gave us three tiny ones which are planted in our garden. It is supposed to grow fast and enhance the growth of other plants and trees nearby. It's supposed to clean the water and environment. It's supposed to have 7 times the vitamin C of oranges, 4 time the vitamin A of carrots, 4 times the calcium of milk, 3 times the potassium of bananas, and twice the protein of yoghurt. It's Ricky's and our singer friend Kera's goal to spread the word about these trees by giving concerts and asking for donations to buy and plant them all over Madagascar.
I just spoke to two young Sister missionaries from Majunga on the northwest coast, and they know and eat these the leaves and seeds from these trees! That's encouraging!
In early morning (about 6 a.m.) , Tana looks golden from my balcony.
Yesterday I rode my first taxi-be! Senior missionaries are not encouraged to ride them because of extreme crowding. But if you sit on the front seat next to the driver, no one else can crowd in. You are sitting high up in the van and have great views. Unfortunately, you don't have a great view of this cow, where we stopped to pick up more passengers. Gradually the bus got more and more jammed with people, but we were safe.
glad you know the trick about sitting by the driver! :) Insider knowledge.
