Water!
On Wednesday the Humanitarian missionaries, Elder and Sister Gray from U.K., came into the office and handed out glasses of water to everyone. They then asked us to toast the approval of their latest Water Project proposal, which will supply water to 30,000 people in their villages. No longer will the women and older girls have to walk miles along rough and eroded, steep paths, taking over an hour each way twice a day, to get a bucketful of water from a pond. Now there is a concrete basin in their village and the potable water is brought directly from springs by pipes. This can really transform their lives, giving them more time to grow crops or raise livestock, do craft projects such as weaving or embroidery which can bring more money to their families...it must be quite a sight to see the expressions on their faces when they first see how the water comes out of the pipe right in the center of town, and they can drink it! I've heard about this happening but never seen it myself. The water projects have supplied 50,000 so far...It must be so fulfilling and exciting for the Grays when these proposals are approved.

Water is a miracle.
ReplyDeleteWow, that would be fun to see the reaction when the water first comes on. What a great blessing that we just take for granted, water piped right to us!
