Today our friends the Grays, Humanitarian missionary couple from England, drove us to a village an hour outside of Tana where a market/fair was going on. It had been re-established in the spot where an ancient and great king of Madagascar had originally created a marketplace in 1790-1800. Because of the drizzling and cool weather not all the stalls were open, but it was interesting to see the variety of food, clothing and crafts for sale. The countryside was lovely and I tried to photograph some of the traditional houses en route, but it was hard to do from the moving car. Hope to get another chance soon!
