Last Friday the Relief Society had a quilting bee. There was one hand-cranked sewing machine, a big table, fabric, scissors, thread, a pencil and cardboard. First step was cutting the cardboard into the right sized squares, then marking the fabric with the squares.
Next step, sewing the fabric squares together.
The quilting skills are getting passed on to the next generation.
Can you guess how old she is? Five or six? Nope, eleven!

Two visiting babies. Notice how well covered they are. And it was a warm day! All Malagasy babies are well wrapped.
Someone else tries sewing. In two and a half hours, the entire quilt was completed! I had to leave early so didn't get a shot of the finished product.

Look what was lurking under our squash leaves...ONE which escaped rot, and how! And it's not finished growing yet! (Hand added for scale).
